NPR interviewed some guy who wrote in a paper about the battle between governments and cryptocurrency companies. Seriously, could worldwide governments lose control over money and its distribution? That would overthrow all governments.

Governments control the gateways - banks which collect fiat currency which is converted to crypto-currency and the other way around.

If they wish they can freeze or close the gateways - as in the case of China.

All of the countries which are planning their CBDC can potentially take the same action as China did…
