How many of you really care that you own your data (like your social posts, your profile, etc.) and would you prefer to have your data on a decentralized platform where you own it? Or do you care where your data sits or what entity actually owns it?

I think most people in democratic / western countries don’t care about their social information.

On the other hand people in authoritarian and oppressive countries care very much about what and where they post.

Most likely the democratic and oppressive countries have similar tools and technology for mass surveillance in the name of national security.

The difference is that oppressive countries enforce obedience while the democratic countries allow (still) free thinking.

The only possibility to avoid mass surveillance is to use decentralized way of communication - user to user, where only the sender and the receiver have/store the message/data.
