Decentralization actually increases server costs and is more expensive than having a central database.
The whole purpose of decentralizing is because of distrust - that after verifying that multiple copies of the same blockchain are the same assures users it is genuine and not modified.
If trust exists there is no need of blockchains and using a single centralized database is sufficient.
